Sept 12-16th we will be traveling to Australia. Not really, but our virtual field trips are beginning. This is our first stop in the Meadow Media Center this year. Here are three books we will be reading while we travel.
The first is Diary of a Wombat, by Jackie French. In this diary, Wombat describes his life of eating, sleeping, and getting to know his human neighbors. This is a great picture book. The illustrations are fantastic and the kids are going to just love it.
This book is illustrated by Bruce Whatley.

Next is a book we have had in our library for a while. Koala Lou, by Mem Fox. It's the story of a young koala who longs to hear her mother speak lovingly to her as she did before other children came along. She plans to win her distracted mothers attention. If she can just win the "Bush Olympics" maybe her mom will give her the attention she seeks. Incidentally, Mem Fox is an Australian author.
And finally, another new book to our library collection this year. Appleblossom the Possum, by Holly Goldberg Sloan. A young possum, Appleblossum, is the littlest possum in her family. At the beginning of a big adventure Appleblossum winds up trapped in a human house before her brother can come rescue her. A heart warming story of family and adventure.
I am looking forward to spending time with you as we travel the 7 continents this year.
